Events that would like to be sanctioned by RUN MAINE must meet the afore mentioned guidelines and apply. Races that meet or exceed these standards will then be invited to add the official 'RUN MAINE - sanctioned event' logo to their applications, race shirts or web pages. Participants seeking the highest quality running events should look for this logo and patronize events who meet these standards, as their personal assurance that the event they will be attending is both safe and well organized.

An open letter to Maine running events: Dear Maine running clubs and race committees,   In an effort to bring more runners to the state of Maine in 2008, while focusing on making all of our events the best and safest possible, RUN MAINE has been created. This free service is intended to spotlight Maine's best running events and to provide easily accessible information to smaller groups so they can learn to put on even better organized running events for the betterment of all.   Our approach is to create a Maine brand using a common recognizable logo to help connect races that are held all across our state while keeping the unique character that all of our individual events are already known for. Our objective is to help attract more runners to our state by creating and freely sharing information a kind of, 'better house keeping seal' for running all across Maine.   You are invited to list events for free that meet the Run Maine requirements and you are encouraged to use the Run Maine logo to help tell prospective participants that your event(s) are among the best Maine has to offer.   Please pass this message around to other events or club officials.
